Mr. lybrate-user, I suggest you to check her hba1c, lft kft. Depending upon report we can discuss about the the issue. Considering her age, treatment needs to be modified keeping preventing low blood sugar as first priority. Most important thing for now is that you must avoid low blood sugar. I suggest you to discuss about it with your current physician on urgent basis. Take care.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. The glucose levels mentioned are too low and pretty dangerous. There is a need to reduce one of the drugs being taken. If the patient is 74 years old, then Glibeclamide (Glynase) needs to be discontinued as it has very long duration of action (over 16 hours) hence in older persons it tends to cause severe hypoglycemia. So please discontinue that and then after a week check the FBG & PP glucose. If you have any questions please do come back. In this communication I can not write or recommend any alternate drug as that is not allowed. If you come in a private conversation with all the necessary information like : current FBG, PP HBA1c%, extent of exercise, dietary pattern then I will be able to give specific guidance and even prescribe if there is a need. But please stop Glibenclamide from today. Thanks.
