My mother 51 years old has been diagnosed with type 2 dm. Her hba1c is 9.7 % fasting glucose was 134 and post prandial was 294. Past few days she has been complaining of online work stress. She used to say 'ghabrahat hoti hai' so we got her tested. She has no other symptoms. She has been prescribed teneligliptin+ metformin and lovastatin for 20 days and after that follow up. Can you suggest me what can she eat? Like in pulses, eggs, fruits etc.

Hello, Thanks for the query I have seen the details given, where you have mentioned the fasting & PP glucose levels before treatment. Since the initiation of treatment there must have been some improvement in the glucose levels, so it is necessary to know those. HbA1c% takes almost 3 months to show any change. In uncontrolled diabetes there can be multiple symptoms like continuous tiredness, no interest in work, exertion, too much of thirst and hunger plus there may be weight loss. At her age it is essential to maintain FBG < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% < 6.5%. Therefore, it is necessary to know her current situation. Plus there is no mention of her weight, height, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise. All these details are essential before I can give any advice. To advice about her diet I need to know present dietary habits and intake. So it will be better if you come back with all the details. Please understand strict glucose control is very essential for postponing or preventing long term complications associated diabetes. I await your early response. Thanks.
