Hi I am 34 years now. My tsh is 4.62. Is it normal or hypothyroid? My doctor has prescribed me thyrox 12.5 micro gram tablet. Is it safe or should I avoid if my thyroid is normal? I am also trying to conceive as I had a miscarriage in august 2020. Please guide me.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam, tsh 4.62 mu/l is with in normal range for almost everyone. However, if you are looking to have a baby, then it is better if it is brought around 2.5 mu/l that is the reason why the doctor has prescribed levothyroxine 12.5 mcg for you. Chances of proper ovulation and conceiving are better with tsh < 2.5 mu/l. Plus during the gestational period it should remain < 2.5 mu/l for proper growth of the fetus and for expected outcome of pregnancy. Thanks.
