Dear respected sir I am diabetic from last 4 years and I am taking glyciphage 1000 mg and diamicron Mr. 60 mg from last one year. 2 months before my sugar level was extremely high which was 427, but from last one month my sugar level is below 100 (fasting) due to walking 20-22 km daily. So I have to take same medicine? 2. Is walking 20-22 km daily is good for me? 3. Can I stop medicine in future if my sugar level will below 100 continuously? Thanks afroz.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have sen the details given. It is good to know that your glucose levels have come down so very well. However, there is no mention of proper fasting, PP glucose levels and HbA1c%, unless those details are given, it os difficult to comment. Another important aspect is your BMI(Body Mass Index) which 30.06 kgs/Sq meter (Normal < 23 kgs/Sq meter), suggesting there is an excess of over 21 kgs. As your Ideal Body Weight should be about 71 kgs. This can be an invitation for increasing blood glucose. Because due to excess weight there is considerable central obesity(fat around your abdomen). This causes Insulin resistance. That means in spite of having enough Insulin secretion it is not able to perform its functions due to Insulin Resistance(IR). Therefore if you are able to cut even 5 to 8% of present weight, you will be able to reduce diabetes medication and control glucose better. As regards walking for 20 to 22 kms, it is excellent if you are able to do it regularly. But please also look at reducing the extra weight. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
