My father is having diabetes his fasting sugar level is 75. He was prescribed predmet 16 mg also doctor suggested to take insulin during the course? Is it mandatory to take insulin while taking steroid predmet 16 mg?

Predmet is steroid abd it is known to increase blood sugar in diabetc patients and can even precipitate diabetes in prediabetics. Fasting sugar 75 is low insulin dose should be reduced. Please discuss with your treating physician.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. However, there is no mention of detailed glucose levels like Fasting, PP & HbA1c%. Unless these details are known it is difficult give any opinion. Usually with ay steroid there is likelihood of blood glucose increase, as steroid have a glucose increasing action.
