I am 48 years old lady. I had done rt thyroidectomy since 2 yrs. In left thyroid gland there is 3�5 mm nodule seen after ultrasound done. What to do now. I am already taking eltroxin 75 mg after thyroidectomy. What medicine should be taken to dissolve that nodule.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, I guess the histology report on the removed thyroid nodule is benign. In that case the small nodule in the left lobe seen on ultrasound needs only annual follow-up. About 20 % of these nodules may disappear, 20 % remain the same for many years and the remainder show very slow increase in size. Continue your present dose of eltroxine and get annual tsh and ultrasound imaging of the thyroid done and keep us informed regards professor m s seshadri.
