1 am 59 years old, recently diagnosed with diabetes 2.i have been placed on galvus 50/1000 mg medication, alongside some high blood pressure drugs and cholesterol drug too. So far within the last three weeks, my bp has been controlled. Same with my glucose test results. E. G. The level has been between 5.1 - 5.7.today at 6 am, the glucose level was 5.1. Two hrs after breakfast it dropped to 4.7.it also happened some days ago. I have also been on a good diet of vegetables and plant protein with minimal carb intake. I hope there is positive progress.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. The glucose levels are really well controlled. What is the hba1c%? That will give a better idea about long term control. Restricted dietary intake, regular exercise and weight control are equally important like the drugs in the treatment of diabetes. Since there is no mention of your height (is the hieght mentioned correct) and extent of daily exercise, it is difficult to say anything further. Your present situation is definitely very good. Dear lybrate-user, your blood sugars are under very good control if you reduce your weight by strictly following your current diet and regular exercise (walking 506 km per day) you may not need medication for diabetes. I note that your height is 5'5" for that height ideal weight would be about 65-70 kg regards professor m s seshadri.
