My age is 18 year and I am female. My tsh level is 7.9 and I already eat thyrox 25 mg tablet. So should I consume same power of thyroid 25 mg or should I change the power?

Hello, Thanks for the query. When some one is on adequate dosage of Levothyroxine then TSH is well controlled and maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. If it is higher than that means there is a need to increase the dosage by 12.5 mcg per day. Plus it also depends on the presence of symptoms associated with that condition. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, it is very common for patients with hypothyroidism to forget medicines on 2-3 days a month. I feel this may be the reason why your recent tsh has gone up to 7.9. Make sure you take the tablet every single day on an empty stomach. You can keep it in the bathroom shelf so that you can take it as soon as you brush your teeth. In case you forget on an occasional day, take it anyway when you remember later in the day. If you forget for a whole day take the extra dose the next day. Follow this advice and recheck free t4 and tsh after 2 months and let me know on an online consultation
