Seems like she is suffering from schizophrenia. If you don't see much of the effects either dose of medication has to be increased or any other antipsychotic medication needed to be given. This can only be decided by seeing the patient and discussing some other important aspects about the illness. Please consult a psychiatrist and discuss all these issues to get proper treatment option. All the best.

It is not depression, but psychosis, most likely from what you say schizophrenia. So get the diagnosis correct from your psychiatrist, so you know the treatment course how to handle her if she talks about the hallucinations and delusions. Since sizodon plus is ineffective, as you say you need to consult a psychiatrist and change the medications. But any medicine will take 2 to 8 weeks to act. I hope she took sizodon plus regularly. If there has been partial improvement the dose needs to be adjusted too. Good luck.

She is being treated for a more serious condition than depression. I suggest that you seek the help of a counselor too anyway. She needs this help for a long time and with her cooperation, she can recover pretty fast. She probably has a paranoid schizophrenic problem. There is no doubt that this disease is debilitating but she must persevere not only with the medication but also with counseling. The counseling gives her an avenue to work with her emotional issues and she will develop skills in coping with the everyday challenges that life throws at her. I hope her visits to the psychiatrist were regular and the medication has been frequently reviewed during these two years. She needs to be occupied, and fit into a routine of interesting activities every day. Yoga and meditation is also necessary to train her brain to be disciplined. Exercise always plays a stabilizing role and is the most holistic medicine besides. Since the paranoid mind is regularly perturbed by unreal fears, a reality check through counseling will help her discern fact from fiction. Her socializing and maintaining steady relations is the hallmark of a good recovery program. If I am to assume that there were no relapses during this period, then that is a good sign too. This means that her condition has remained stable all of these years! now go to the next level along with therapy and she can look forward to a more functional and productive lifestyle.
