Sir I am taking teneligliptin 20 mg after breakfast, pioz 7.5 metformin 250 mg at night. Benitowa 8 mg and novastat 10 mg once daily. My hba1c is 5.9 fasting hovers around 120 pps 128 .bp 121/90. Lipid normal, serum creatinine 0.74 ,kft and lft normal, thyroid normal, why my diastolic pressure is elevated. Please suggest whether should I continue all medicine or not. On diet compliance. Weight 57 kg. Diabetes for eleven years.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, your diabetes is under excellent control with your current medications please continue the same. Dose reduction will be needed only if you have low sugar symptoms and values. Often mild hypertension coexists with type 2 diabetes particularly if parents or siblings have high bp. If repeated diastolic readings are 90, restrict salt intake in diet to 50% of usual intake and if diastolic is still around 90, you may need in addition an ace inhibitor like enalapril or an arb like losartan in consultation with your treating physician and bring the diastolic down to less than 85 mm of hg

Hello sir, high blood pressure is equally important in treat in diabetes than just simply blood glucose, so your blood glucose well under control with medication you are taking but the blood pressure medications are not optimal, please visit your doctor to make sure you get a proper prescription of anti-hypertensive, after evaluating you in detail the doctor will prescribe a medications which will reduce your blood pressure. Self monitor blood pressure value should be 135 systolic 85 diastolic, if the diastolic values are more than 85 repeatedly this can be result in higher risk of heart attach and stroke.
