Hello. I am suffering from rheumatology arthritis since 13 years. Contacted many doctors for this and as a prescription they told me to take folitrax tablet. I am taking it for many years. Still there is no improvement in pain. There is weakness in my right hand and leg due to which I cannot walk normally and you cannot hold a glass of water with my right hand only. If you have any solution of my problem. Kindly suggest.

You need to understand that your disease is going to stay with you lifelong, though its intensity may vary in different seasons. Folitrax may modify disease course to some extent. As far as function of different joints are concerned, you need to do daily mobilization and use the limbs regularly. Hot bag fomentation in the morning and any simple analgesic may be taken on much pain occasionally. To counteract the side effect of folitrax you need to take folic acid 5 mg daily or tab folinic acid 2.5 mg once in a week after taking folitrax.

Its not easy to go through such a long time in pain. I believe you can change your doctor as there are lot of other medications to give if the disease is resistant to methotrexate. There are many disease modifying drugs which may help you to control your disease and to make you pain free. You can also consult me online or physical. Such high risk drugs can not be given over a casual discussion.
