He is having delusions and hallucinations due to neurotransmitter (chemicals) changes in the brain which is the seat of mind, controlling thoughts, emotions and perceptions. All medications carry side effects and they need to be monitored. We have to weigh the risks and benefits of treatment. Dry mouth, tiredness all can caused by the medicines which you need to convey to the treating psychiatrist. The treating psychiatrist seems to be doing a good job going for zaporil and adjusting others. Kindly attend the review and do the blood tests as advised. Even after achieving adequate, tolerable doses with zaporil, if symptoms are not under control, which happens very rarely, other measures can be considered. Good luck. T.

Hi lybrate-user, dystonia is a psychiatric emergency, please consult a nearby psychiatrist in-person or visit any medical emergency. The psychiatrist will also be able to explain you the causation and mechanism of hallucination and delusion along with potential side effects of the medicines. Whether he needs 1/2/3 medicines will be best decided by examining the patient, going through the previous medical records and past response to medications. Thanks & regards.
