Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Usually fasting glucose is lower than after food glucose level. However, some times based on the food intake and the tablet taken there may be a lower pp glucose possible. So just giving one reading is of no use. You will have to observe post breakfast, post lunch or post dinner glucose levels. You have mentioned that hba1c% as 8.9% which shows that her glucose control is not good enough. In a well controlled diabetes patient fbg should be < 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%. Therefore, it is clear that her glucose control is not good at all. There is a need to look at the over all treatment, which includes" dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, weight, height, lipid profile, serum creatinine, urea and bp readings. So please do come back with all the necessary details for a proper consultation or please consult her physician and get the treatment upgraded. It is absolutely essential to achieve strict glucose control in order to postpone or prevent long term complications associated with diabetes. So please do the needful. Thanks.
