My father is 63 years old and having h/o hepatic cellular carcinoma, having alpha feto protein test result as 13370 ng/ml with ascites and negative hepatitis c virus. My Dr. Has given him sorafenib and lasilactone 50. Now after taking medicines upto 3 days, he is feeling well, has less swelling in stomach area and also on face and feet. I want to know the exact condition of the tumour. Is this treatment good or should I consult another health provider.

Sorefenib is given in proven cases of hcc who can not be operated and no local treatment like tace or tare can be offered. This is usually given in advanced cases as a mode of palliative treatment.

There are other modalities of management available too apart from sorafenib alone. For that patient needs to get evaluated for staging of the disease and other parameters.
