I was pre diabetic 6 month ago i.e. October 2020. I started taking thyroxine 50 mcg, pan 40 in morning and atorlip f tablet at night. Sugar level was 103 fasting ha1bc was 5.3. Now I am diabetic. Sugar level 119 fasting and ha1bc 7.1 post prandial 226. Is it possible that the spike in sugar level is due to medication. I take naxdom 500 also at times due to migraine issues.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. In fact when one detects pre-diabetes, then that is a signal to adapt a modified lifestyle. Like avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, bakery items, take a properly planned diet meeting the exact caloric requirement (based on ideal body weight), do regular exercise for more than 1 hour a day, maintain normal body weight (bmi < 23 kgs/sq meter). If that is done then one can either remain free from diabetes for a pretty long time or be absolutely fine. It appears that kind of care was not taken. In your details there is no mention of your weight, height, dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise plus your current or recent tsh level (since you are on levothyroxine). Now that you have already developed diabetes, there is a need to adapt a modified lifestyle, plus initiate the necessary treatment. So you may come in a private conversation with all the above mentioned details, then I can guide specifically and even prescribe necessary drugs. In this communication we are supposed to give only general guidelines, no drugs can be given or prescribed. Or else please consult your local physician/ diabetologist and start the necessary treatment. You are very young, so please do not delay. See that fbg is < 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%. Thanks.
