My random sugar is between 200 and 230 .many times taken in last 30 days. I take janumet in the morning, prandial .3 md in afternoon with lunch, and janumet at night. Is this sufficient or do I need to increase my meds.

lybrate-user, thanks for the query. The glucose values mentioned are too high, which means current therapy is inadequate. Therefore we will have to look at all the aspects of the treatment. Which includes dietary habit, caloric intake, weight, height and extent of daily exercise, lipid profile, bp readings plus serum creatinine and urea and hba1c%. I am sure you must be aware that in a well controlled diabetes patient fbg should be < 100 mgor closer to 100 mg, pp should be 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% <6.5 % at your age and for people over 60 years <7%. Therefore, with given information I will not be able advise or give any suggestions. Your diabetes control will be determined by hba1c. If that is under control then you can continue with the current medications. If your diabetes is not under control then you will need some modification and addition of the oral diabetic agents. It’s also very imp to know the total duration of your diabetes and your previous diabetes control.
