I am tested covid positive yesterday. I am under treatment at home .i am also taking medicines for ra factor. Such as omnacortil 5 mg, sazo 1000, almity plus and hcqs 200. Should I continue with this medicines or do I need to stop it for the time being. As these are immunosuppressant meds, I am afraid if it may cause more infections. Plss advice.

Hello, in my opinion you many continue the drugs. Hcqs was also used previously for the treatment of covid19 with good results. Also omnacortil is a steroid and should not be stopped abruptly without first consulting with your doctor. I recommended 2 weeks of isolation and self monitoring. You may take supplements such as vitamin c and zinc. Feel free to contact privately if any other queries.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, in medical practice, always the risks and benefits are taken into consideration when prescribing medicines. Your rheumatologist has prescribed medication which has some immunosuppressive properties as it is standard treatment for rheumatid arthritis. Depending on how bad your condition is will determine whether or not you can stop these medicines temporarily. However reviewing the medicines and their doses, it seems they are only in a low dose and therefore may not be as bad as you suspect. Generally we don't recommend stopping a treatment unless there is a compelling reason for it. It is best you discuss with your rheumatologist if you are eager to stop the above medication.
