Hello, is it okay to consume alcohol a day before the covid vaccine? My dad is 56 years old and he consumed alcohol today. He had undergone heart valve replacement by-pass surgery in the year april 2019. He is about to take the covid vaccination tomorrow morning, is it fine to take the vaccine tomorrow?

Hello lybrate-user.in view of his cardiac condition its better to stop alcohol consumption and coming to covid vaccine. Alcohol is theoretically known to suppress the immunity transiently especially lymphopenia which might effect your immune production post vaccination. Though its not an absolute contradiction but its better to avoid alcohol before and after vaccination atleast for 4-5 days.
