Hi mam my daughter 23 has very mid fungal infection on her toenail, around 15 days back she noticed some white pus like material on pressing her adjoining toenail and skin area, upon consulting a podiatrist I have given her 10 days augmentin course and applied t back and zole f, with dressing, there is no oozing now except mild swelling, today he trimmed some of portion the nail and has asked to dress it for few more days and advised terbinafine 250 mg once daily for 6 weeks, I have read so many side effects of it really scared, is itraconazole better or terbinafine, pls advise.

As per the history you have given it is definitely a case of onycho mycosis with secondary bacterial infection the person who treated it correctly. No problem take antifungal. Side effects not occur to all. Don't be scared see the other end. As she is young ,can tolerate the drug very well unless there is any hypersensitivity.
