I was prescribed nexito plus by doctor & I was doing fine but 2 days back doctor has replaced the same by nexito 5. My anxiety, palpitations & sleep disorder has returned. Will the symptoms go back after a couple of days or I should switch over to the previous medicine.

Dear Sumantra, As you have guessed, the symptoms will go back after couple of weeks (not days). Nexito plus has escitalopram and clonazepam. Nexito has only escitalopram. Clonazepam immediately relieves anxiety, palpitations and improves sleep. But it being a benzodiazepine, you may become dependent on it. At this young age, it is not good in the long run. Escitalopram will improve you - it may take few weeks to act.

As you are improving significantly. Your benzodiazepine dose was stopped and changed to escitalopram only drug to prevent dependence to benzodiazepine. Initial mild sleep disturbances may settle in a week. If not your consultant will review and plan accordingly. This can happen in many patients so don’t worry too much. Good luck.
