I have itchy and red eye in the morning and the white part gets swollen (jelly looking type) and it produces a string of white discharge. I took cetrizine and it gets better but it is so annoying.

It must be allergic reaction. Try olopatidine eye drops twice daily. Also do some steam inhalation. You can stop cetrizine. Also do not rub the eyes.
