Dear Lybrate user, it must've be hard going through depression and you to see your mother suffering from depression as well. If medications are nit helping, i'll suggest that you take her to psychological counseling/therapy. Therapy can help her to manage her depression with certain strategies and techniques given during therapy. Especially cognitive behaviour therapy is proven and widely used to treat depression. Therapy will also help in the long term. Once your mother learns to manage depression on her own, you can also reduce your dependence and need for medications. Please take her to a psychologist. Also, make sure she is eating healthy, give her your support and be there for her. Make sure she is active during the day, doing activities that she likes and enjoys. All this and the right help, your mother can manage her depression well. If you need help, you can contact me as well. All the best! regards, aaradhana reddy counselling psychologist.

Hi as your mother is taking parkin, I assume that she is a parkinson patient. For patients, depression is also a symptom of the disease. Try to engage your mother into activities which she likes, exercise would help her a lot and keep an healthy diet plan for her to follow, to manage the symptoms. Thanks.

None of them are antidepressants. Apart from neurologist for parkinsonism, also consult a psychiatrist for depression, which is commonly seen in parkinson's disease. Good luck.
