I am suffering from blood sugar since last 4 years. Suddenly blood sugar level low that's why my doctor advised me now not to take medicine. Pioz mf 15 after breakfast 1 and after dinner 1. I had taken. But blood sugar level gradually increased. Fasting 107 and pp 163. I am confused and tensed also. My question is that I shall take or not medicine. Thanks.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. Madam, I have seen the details mentioned. However, it is not clear to me whether you are on treatment now (with oral anti-diabetes drugs) or not. Sometimes during the treatment blood glucose levels may go low. If blood glucose levels go below 70 mg or even lower patients may have symptoms of hypoglycemia, which recover on taking some sugar or sweets. Since yoou have not mentioned whether glucose levels were persistently low and so what were the actual levels is not mentioned, so it is difficult to give specific advise. The levels mentioned fasting 107 & pp 163 mg are looking fine. If you are now not on treatment, you may remain so. But if the glucose levels go up that is fbg >126 mg & pp > 200 mg, then treatment needs to be resumed. Please also look at hba1c%, which is a bette indicator.
