Hello doctor, am married women and am having hypothyroidism and started eating thyronorm for more than 1 and half year. We consulted a physician and he suggested me not to have baby until my thyroid were in control. Day before yesterday was my third day of periods, that time while having sexual intercourse we didn't take any safety measures so that sperm went in. We are scared that can I get pregnant in this time.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam you have mentioned about having hypothyroidism and taking the treatment. But there is no mention of current or very recent tsh and t4 levels. Because if you are thinking of having a baby, then it is essential to maintain tsh around 2 mu/l, before conception and during the first 3 months. Since there is no mention of that information, it is difficult to comment. If there is any doubt about having conception, get a pregnancy test done and if need be consult your gynecologist what is to be done, thanks.
