Hi, i'm suffering from somniphobia (fear if falling asleep) after I went through a bad breakup that let to ptsd 3 years ago. Since then i'm taking seroquel (quetiapine) 10 mg and I don't have problem in falling asleep as much as I used to have in the past. However, I can't sleep and will have symptoms of somniphobia if I don't take the medicine and sometimes even with the medicine, I can't fall asleep. Also, even if have slept a good 6-7 hours, I feel unrested everyday. What can I do? I have tried gradually waning off the medicine but if I go below 10 mg, it affects my sleep.

U need to clarify all history, are you recovered from ptsd, ocd, depression that you have mentioned in history. Still difficulty in sleep it means some where problem is there. U should disclose thinking pattern, episodes of anxiety etc. If diagnosis is clarified than there should be change in management. U can consult psychiatrist of choice online also.

Hi lybrate-user! definitely a person suffering from depression will definitely prefer or fall asleep. This is quite common in individuals who are depressed, but this does not prolong .thus is just the recovery stage .so take medications as per doctor's advice. But check if any medicine that causes sleep as to be taken at night or day you can check with your doctor and undergo yoga and meditation along with counseling which would help you recover soon. Take care.
