My dad has discharged frm hospital. He suffered heartache. When he has taken to hosptl he has random sugar 501. So they advised at discharge timehuminsulin r (15-15-10) lantus (0-0-15) tablet istamet (1-0-1) after eating foodtablet volibo 0.3 (1-1-1) after eating food. Now at present his sugar levels are getting low, we are monitoring sugar levels. If he has sugar--75, is it necessary to give both the tablets. Upto hw mch we can reduce or stop insulin.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I have seen the query. However, the information is not enough to give any suggestion or any comment. Please come back with following details: his fasting, pp glucose levels, hba1c%, correct dosage of all the medications being given for glucose control including insulin (both type), dietary details, extent of daily physical activity, height, weight and bp readings and lipid profile. Once I get those details I will be able to suggest how to go about. It is better if you come back in the private conversation, so that I will be able to even recommend changes in medication. Thanks.

You need to go back to the Dr. and revise doses. Since patients take care of diet their need of insulin gets reduced.

It will not good to say anything with this short description. Just consult with nearby general physician or diabetologist. Because he has the heartattack history and also on the insulin and tablets so do not withdraw medicine suddenly, medicinal withdraw should be gradual by decreasing quantity ,firstly consult with physician for this.
