Regards Lybrate user. The pain in the shin area may be due to overworking of your muscles due to incline walking. On an upward incline your foot will have to dorsiflex (that is toes and foot move upwards to clear the ground) more than normal. Repetitive use would make the muscles in front of shin to work harder and does not relax. You may try to reduce to incline activity and do level walking to observe if it really changes your pain (to ascertain the above said probability). You may try to stretch the muscles on the front of shin by sitting and crossing the affected leg on the other. Use the opposite hand to grasp the foot and gently pull the foot in downward direction to stretch the muscles. Remember to hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds x 1-2 repetitions x 2 times/day. If the pain continues to occur, it would be recommended to get evaluated with an orthopaedician or orthopaedic physiotherapist to determine the cause and get treated accordingly.
