My mom is diabetic and high blood pressure patient, she diagnosed with both first time in year 2017 and continuously on two tabs of diabetes and one tab of high bp each day ,from inception itself both are very well in control ,but heart rate is little elevated ,which as per local doctor is due to anxiety it remains generally b/w 90 -95, diabetes remains in range of 120-130 mg/dl while bp 120-145/80-90, she is having persistent dry cough. Which become more in night time, not always but in the interval of some day ,she is also having allergies history since 20 years and using sometimes cobate cream and stopped medicines for allergies years ago. She complained of dry mouth and then dry cough which she get in night after some time of sleeping and last 5-10 mins or till she didn't get nap, and having this issue from 1 years itself ,sometimes it stop and again start ,visited a week ago with the issue and doctor prescribed anti bacterial + anti biotic with cough syrup ,but till the time she was on course she did not get any dry cough but after 3-4 days it again start ,i am in big dilemma and concerned because it impacts on heart and also create issues in night sleeping .also used home remedies like ginger ,honey ,tulsi tea ,giloy juice etc but all are temporary in nature .i would be obliged if any expert can identify the reason of it .she is not having any breathing issue while working ,walking and not have cough ,fever etc.

Hello Lybrate user chronic dry cough can occur due to lung diseases like tb, allergic bronchitis etc, gerd, upper respiratory tract diseases like sinusitis, pharyngitis and cardiac diseases etc. High heart rate can occur due to anemia, thyroid problems, infections, heart diseases etc, pls rule out the above causes of high heart rate first. The root cause of cough needs to be identified to control it, pls consult a physician to undergo complete evaluation for proper treatment. Take care.
