Doctor prescribed paroxetine cr 37.5 mg for social anxiety which I was taking for around more than 3 months but very less improvement seen and it causes excessive sweating too but now doctor told me to take placida so I want to know does this medicine also cause excessive sweating or not (bcoz every ssri and tricyclic cause sweating) so kindly suggest is it ryt yo start placida or not bcoz the main symptom of my anxiety is excessive sweating when anxious .and antidepressants worsen this symptom too .plz help me.

I think your sweating is mainly to do with autonomic dysfunction associated with anxiety. You will need a beta blocker to reduce your sweating associate with your excessive sweating. Dear Ankush, Placida may not worsen your sweating. On the other hand it reduces anxiety, thereby sweating also. Placida contains Flupenthixol (0.5 mg) and Melitracen (10 mg). Flupenthixol is a major tranquilizer that is not needed in social anxiety treatment. Melitracen is a weak antidepressant - not approved in India. So you can try other anxiolytics or therapy or relaxation exercise or yoga-pranayama.
