Sir. I am diabetic and currently I am taking carbophage xr 1000, vildagliptin 50 and dapavel 10 mg after breakfast. After dinner, carbophage xr 1000 and vildagliptin 50. Is it ok if I substitute carbophage xr 1000 with glycomet sr 1000? Is xr and sr the same ?which is more effective?

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. However, there is only mention of medication being taken. That does not give any idea about how is the actual glucose control, because there is no information on fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, lipid profile, extent of daily exercise and bp readings. As regards changing a brand of metformin hardly matters. Unless above information is provided I am unable to comment or give any suggestions. Another important aspect is that with 95 kg weight you are already quite over weight, your ideal body weight should be about 80 kgs which means there is an excess of over 15 kgs. This affects insulin action and in turn glucose control. I am sure you are aware at your age ideally fbg should be < 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%.
