Hii am a 55-year-old male and type 2 diabetes. I am taking 50 mg galvus met, forxiga 10 mg in the morning, and 50 mg galvus met, 60 mg diaglucide, and 20 mg aspavor at night after dinner. Can the other medications be taken with galvus met, from what I understood from my gp, galvus met is an "all in one" so I thought maybe I wouldn't need to take the other extra tablets as well?

Hello, thanks for the query. From the details given it is clear that you seem to have not well controlled blood glucose levels. That is the reason for giving oral anti-diabetic drugs plus insulin (both basal & rapid acting ones). Since there is no mention of actual blood glucose levels (fasting, pp or random) & hba1c%, there is no way to comment or give any suggestions. Plus there is no information on your height, height, dietary pattern & extent of daily exercise. Unless all the details are given there no possibility of giving any comments. As regards your gp's comment please understand there is nothing like" all in one" type of anti-diabetes drug. Each patient invariably needs different approch and different drugs too. In a well controlled diabetes patient fbg should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg. Pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c% < 6.5% looking at your age your glucose levels should be in this fashion only. Then only one will be able to prevent or postpone diabetes related long term complications affecting all vital organs like small & large blood vessels, retina, peripheral nerves, kidneys, lower limbs and heart. So if you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

Dear patient, galvusmet is only combo of vildagliptin and metformin. It is very great medication because it works indirectly on insulin producing cells by function called incretin effect. And also has effect on glucogon. But, we can tell it is all in one of your a1c is controlling with galvusmet. Obviously you need to take other medications also and some medications further addresses the comorbid conditions.
