Hi hba1c 7.4 on linagliptin 5 mg one per day. Metformin 750 mg bd. Any suggestions to change the medication to improve hba1c levels.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. At 38 years your hba1c% should ideally be < 6.5% & fbg <100 mg & pp <150 mg. If these values are attained then you will be able to remain free from or prevent the long term complications associated with diabetes. Therefore, with present hba1c% of 7.4% it is clear that there is a need to look at your overall treatment which includes drugs, diet & extent of daily exercise plus maintaining near normal body weight. Since there is no information on any of the other aspects (except hba1c%), it is difficult to comment or give any suggestions. Thanks.
