I had been diagnosed with ocd. I take fluvoxin cr 300 mg, venlor xr 150 mg, oleanz 5 mg and betacap tr 40 mg daily. I had become quite lethargic and was also suffering with stuffed nose, so I stopped taking oleanz. After taking oleanz I felt that my sleep had been reduced a lot. And hence I again started taking oleanz 5 mg at the prescribed time (i also want to mention that I took melatonin 3 mg daily at night in the gap period). Now it has been 3 days since I started taking oleanz again, I am feeling dizzy. Should I keep taking oleanz or stop taking it?

Please speak to your psychiatrist for alternatives to oleanz, if it's troubling you. Also practice cbt to control your ocd and sleep related issues.

Dear lybrate-user, it is always better to follow your psychiatrist's advise. Ocd is a chronic lifelong disorder. Though many respond to fluvoxin alone, few need venlor xr also. Oleanz is added only when the response to these tablets were not enough. Of course, oleanz sedates you and its withdrawal causes sleep disturbance. But the purpose of adding oleanz is not to sedate you - but to activate the other 2 tablets for ocd. Discuss it with your psychiatrist. She/he may reduce the dose or add another non sedating tranquillisers/therapy.
