Hello. I take atomoxetine 18 mg (attentrol brand) and fluoxetine 20 mg (fludac brand) daily in the morning to deal with my depression and adhd symptoms as a combined medical therapy. But atomoxetine is not really helping with my core adhd symptoms like inattention and impulsivity. On top of that, I believe atomoxetine is causing side effects such as high bp, irritability, agitation and anger. I'm thinking to increase my fluoxetine dosage from 20 mg to 40 mg to balance the side effects caused by atomoxetine and to provide better results for my symptoms. Please suggest.

Dear lybrate-user, please discuss with your doctor. Probably she/he may agree with you about the increase of fluoxetine dose. Please remember it takes 2-3 weeks for fluoxetine to start its antidepressant action. Your doctor may assess your high bp, irritability, agitation and anger as symptoms of depression rather than atomoxetine side effects!

You need to discuss this with your psychiatrist. Atomoxetine doesn't help every patient of adhd (although, it very effective in some). Get your diagnosis revised, if its really adhd, you can discuss option of stimulants with your psychiatrist.
