Broken tooth will not heal on its own meaning the broken piece won't come back again, meaning the tooth will not heal but yes if the surrounding tissue is lacerated then the tissues will heal on their own. Now the tooth can be repaired and restored or simply to say now the tooth can be filled up to make the shape of the loss of the tooth structure. Now, you can get it filled. The filling is called composite filling. It is tooth color filling. Important points to note:- after a little or small hit on the tooth, the tooth may heal or may or may not lead to infection in the future. To keep updated about your tooth, you need to get the tooth checked for its vitality and no infection via dental x-ray, every 6 months or 1-year duration. Also, you need to keep noticing whether the tooth is losing its color and turning brown over time, if yes then you need to visit the dentist. Prevention would be to restrict biting from this tooth for 14-30 days and avoid unnecessary hitting by the glass, or someone's elbow in the same tooth again.
