Hello, I am 36 years old, I am already hypothyroid patient. I was taking 100 mcg tablets, in pregnancy no change I continued same 100 mcg thyronorm, but on 12 th week of my pregnancy my tsh level increased 14. Gynaecologist change my dose as alternate days 100 and 150 mcg. I am so worried. Please guide me. My baby safe?

Madam, I am sure you are aware that during the 9 moths of gestation period tsh has to be maintained in the following manner: 1)1st trimester tsh 0.1 to 2.5 mu/l, 2) 2nd trimester 0.2 to 3.0 mu/l & 3) 3rd trimester 0.3 to 3.0 mu/l. Plus it is necessary to check thyroid profile during that 9 moth period once every 4 weeks. If you had followed those guide lines probably such a situation would not have been faced usually in a hypothyroid patient with pregnancy setting in dosage of levothyroxine goes up by almost 25%. It appears that you have not taken that care. Now please follow the advise of your doctor and see that tsh is maintained as mentioned above. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
