I am a diabetic patient. I have been suffering from this disease for about last 15 years. I have been taking the medicine, namely, GMR M1, regularly and sugar level is under control. But I have also acidity problem. Especially, after taking a meal some sour substance come to my mouth from the stomach. But after a while it is vanished. When I usually consult with my doctor, he used to give a medicine, namely, Pandosun D. But as well as I want to stop on taking this medicine, after a few days the previous symptoms appear. What can I do in this situation?

Mr. Lybrate-user, hyperacidity and regurgitation problems are likely to be with you. You have to observe certain precautions like: do not keep stomach empty for a long time. Eat small but frequent meals,(every 2 to 3 hours), but total quantity should not exceed your planned daily intake. Plus please keep your blood sugar levels in check - fasting around 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7. All these things together will help in controlling excess acidity. Avoid spicy foods, sweets and deep fried fods, pastries and junk foods. Reduce the intake of tea or coffee. If you take alcohol that should be stopped and avoid smoking. After meal (lunch or dinner) sit erect for at least 1 hour or more. Exercise regularly for at least 1 hour a day, that helps reduce acidity.
