Hello doctor! my son is 19 years old. He is in trauma as his mother passed away 3 months back. He is not able to overcome this pain. Initially I thought that with time, he will be ok but this is not happening and the condition has become worse. Doctor said that he is suffering from anhedonia. Now I am afraid because he is too young for this. Doctor please help me know can anhedonia be treated?

Anhedonia has no treatment as of now but the conditions it is part of can be treated. Suppose if anhedonia is due to mental depression, treatment for depression will help in treating anhedonia. Treatments include - medications & therapy (your health expert may prescribe you antidepressants or can give you talk therapies), ect therapy (it is performed by placing electrodes on the head through which electric current passes to the person.
