Dear lybrate-user, dear there is nothing reliable available in the market that whitens your teeth. A few toothpastes claim tooth whitening, but most of these are marketing gimmicks. However you can try toothpaste snowdent, which I personally have found to be clinically better than others. You should get your teeth whitened by bleaching of teeth. Two types of bleaching kits are used these days. Home use kit is to be used twice a week and you should get results in about two three months. The office bleach system is the better one, where you get teeth bleached at a dentist chair. You get results in a single sitting of 2 to 3 hours. This is more long lasting as well.

Regular toothpastes remove plaque n makes your teeth clean whereas whitening toothpastes contain certain tooth whitening agents which whiten your teeth slowly over a period of 2 wks to 2 months. These whitening agents may cause sensitivity in few individuals n wen unbearable it is advised to discontinue. Whitening toothpastes donot give pearly white teeth for everybody but only lightens one's teeth by 1-2 shade only.
