Hello doctor. I am a 40 years old female. My husband is 42 and for the past couple of months, his blood pressure shoots up to 180/130 or 190/135. He works at a bank and takes a lot of stress. Doctor please let me know what is the treatment for high blood pressure?

Medicines are not just enough to treat high blood pressure as certain lifestyle changes are also crucial for controlling your blood pressure. Changes in lifestyle include- quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption, taking proper sleep (7 to 9 hours daily), regular exercises and physical activity, and maintaining ideal weight. It is always advised to consume medicicines after consulting your doctor. Few medicines include- angiotensin-converting enzyme (ace) inhibitors, angiotensin ii receptor blockers (arbs), calcium channel blockers, and diuretics (water pills).
