My mom is 70 years and has been taking pregabalin & methyl cobalamin 75/750 mg and gabapentin 400 mg with nortryptline 10 mg together for almost 12 years for diabetic neuropathy. Is it ok to stop any on of the medications like for like alternative days initially and eventually increase the gap. Which one should she stop if she decides to stop any one of it? Please advise.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Please understand that diabetic neuropathy is a long term complication of diabetes. Therefore, unless blood glucose are in strict control, just taking other medications will not give necessary benefits. You can try and cut down the dosage or can look at stopping one of the medications. But more importantly strict blood glucose control with fbg closer to 100 mg, pp 150 170 mg & hba1c% < 7%, is an essential aspect of the treatment. Since there is no mention on her treatment of diabetes or blood glucose levels and hba1c%, no further comments can be made. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
