Hello, for the past two months, I am seeing my finger area is getting cracked and sometimes from tiny portions little blood comes out due to the crack. I consulted a dermatologist, he advised to mix halovate ointment and thiotar cream and apply to the affected area. I am highly allergic, so I consume allegra 180 as sos. I do not see any improvement and my dermatologist diagnosed this as dry eczema. Can anyone please help?

Hi lybrate-user, from what you are describing, a diagnosis of eczema seems to be compatible. However, suboptimal response to the given therapy may be due to one of the following reasons: 1. You may need a longer duration of treatment to see visible results 2. You may have contact dermatitis due to one or more agents (such as detergent, chemicals, metals etc) which may be responsible for the symptoms. Such trigger factors have to be avoided. 3. You may have a different disease which needs alternate therapy. 4. Finger tip eczema often needs a good moisturiser in addition to steroid ointment for quicker relief. That's all I can say without personally examining you. Hope this helps :)
