I took rock salt for nearly 2 months and completely replaced it with the normal salt. I noticed I had gained weight suddenly .my skin became excess dry. I was feeling tired. My ears started paining. I had excessive gastric problems and indigestion. Is it because of iodine deficiency? If yes then should I take any iodine supplement or normal salt intake will reverse it? I have been taking normal salt since 1 month but my problems are still persisting.

Daily requirement of salt is 5g or one teaspoon per day. Normal table salt is routinely consumed and is iodised. Excess dosage may cause higher minerals levels and skin changes. Iodised salt daily assures proper iodine and thyroid levels. Take plenty of water. If complaints persist beyond a month consult a physician for finding exact cause of your complaints.
