Im 31 years old female with autoimmune thyroiditis. Tpo levels have come down significantly after gluten free diet. Is it a must to completely cut off diary products? I usually drink tea with milk like 5 hours after taking thyronorm. And also like to have curd and yoghurt in meals. Periods are regular and I think im not overweight also. 158 cms height and 53 kg weight. Have occasional bloating specially week before periods.

Hello, thanks for the query. Hashimoto's thyroiditis (ht) is an autoimmune condition that often is the cause for developing hypothyroidism. Treatment of ht is to take adequate dosage of levothyroxine and maintain tsh as well as t4 in normal range. There's no separate treatment for ht. The antibody levels may or may not reduce some times selenium containing tablets are used which do help in reducing the levels. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
