Hi. Bruxism is grinding of the teeth without a functional purpose. Bruxism can occur during wakefulness or during sleep (termed as ?sleep bruxism?). Bruxism is considered to have multifactorial etiology. It has been associated with factors such as tooth interference in dental occlusion, psychosocial influences such as stress or anxiety. Some children tend to release the tension accumulated during the day through bruxism during sleep. Bruxism is not considered dangerous in and of itself, but the constant grinding or clenching of teeth can cause jaw pain and damage to the teeth over time. Kindly visit a pediatric dentist/ pedodontist as soon as possible.
