I was standing near my place when a friendly dog came wagging his tail and licked my hand. I am usually an animal lover so it did not bother me much. This happened at around 12.00 am in the night of 8th july. I did not think about it much but the next day I thought what if the dog was rabied? So this scared me and I got a rabifore shot on 9th of july at around 12 noon, nearly 36 hours post this suspected incident. I am scared to death. If someone could help me relieve my stress it would be great..Please tell.

Touching or feeding of animals Licks on intact skin comes under category I with type of exposure "None". Post exposure prophylaxis is NOT indicated. So nothing to worry. (Ref-National Guidelines for Rabies Prophylaxis and Intra-dermal Administration of Cell Culture Rabies Vaccines-2007)

Fear of death is common, everyone has it but licking by dog will not cause rabies so relax and focus on your breath do exercise and learn mindfulness meditation.
