I am 34 years old guy and was mistakenly admitted by my parents in Hospital for BPAD problem as they thought it could be with me and I was made to take medicines like DIVA 500, Lithosun SR 400, ARIP MT 5 and PACITANE 5. Now my medicines has reduced and taking Lithosun SR 400 for twice in a day. I want to get rid of this also and want to lose my weight since it increased considerably plus also want to increase my sexual power which got affected due to medicines. And want complete peace in my mind as it gets heavy and pains sometime. Please help me with this.

Dear lybrate-user, during an episode of mania, you tend to lose insight. You believe that you are normal and others are trying to label you. During manic phase, you may lose name, fame, prestige and money. That is why you were admitted for treatment. Since bpad is a chronically recurring disease, you are continuously given lithosun s r as mood stabiliser. If you stop the medicines, you may get another manic attack which is costly needing admission. If you continue with lithosun regularly during normal phase also, your manic attack will be mild and only for few days which can be treated with arip and pacitane. Of course drugs do have side effects like weight increase and sexual power problems. But think of the effect of the drug in reducing the burden of mania. If you are still concerned about side effects, do not stop lithosun, talk to your doctor. He will reduce the dose or change the drug or add another drug to control side effects. He has already seem to have stopped diva considering your weight. Sexual power may be due to your mood rather than side effect of lithosun.
