Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your eye trouble. Keratoconus is a condition characterized by progressively increasing conical curvature of the cornea. I feel that it was the correct decision to get the c3r procedure done. The condition itself is such that the vision and the clarity of image is affected. There are surgical alternatives for treatment which include total cornea transplant but these are reserved for very severe cases. Also, the success rate of cornea transplant tends to vary. This, I would suggest you to follow the advice of your cornea specialist and undergo treatment accordingly. Take care

You may also try toric soft contact lenses or rigid gas permeable lenses. If the fit is not good due to increased corneal curvature, you may try specialised contact lenses for keratoconus like rose-k or scleral contact lenses. Be sure to remain in follow up with a corneal specialist to monitor the change in curvature and thickness. They usually stabilise in 6-12 months following c3r. For some patients there is also a decrease in eye power.
