Dear l you :- U r father has been suffering from Absolute glaucoma. Optic nerve of LE has been avascularised (dried ).hence there is no chances of recovery of vision. a high intra ocular pressure injures the optic nerve cells and cause irreversible cell death. These cells can't regenerate and hence vision can't be restored. The eye donation - helps treat corneal opacities if the optic nerve and retina are healthy. The cyclocryo has been advised to decrease the production of intra ocular fluid to help decrease the eye pressure. The doctor will have discussed the possible consequences. Of importance , especially if ur father had primary forms of glaucoma is to evaluate ur eyes n that of close family members to identify their risk of developing glaucoma. Early diagnosis and treatment are invaluable in this disease.
