Dr. I have flaky scalp and itchiness from past two months. In these two months I have suffered from Typhoid in Aug last week to sept 1st week, my thyroid too increased TSH is 8, I have gained weight too. Kindly advice.

lybrate-user, Flaky scalp may occur due to dryness and dandruff. Typhoid is an infection, which by now must have been well cured, so there is no need to worry about it. High TSH, (8mU/L), can actually lead to dry skin and scalp too. Plus high TSH leads to definite weight gain. Looking at weight and height with a BMI of 30.07 kgs/M2, there is grade 1 obesity. Your ideal weigh should be 60 kgs. (excess of 17 kgs). So you need to look at treating the possible hypothyroidism, which will mostly take care of all the symptoms. Thanks.
